Fire warning for western interior, scattered showers for eastern interior

The SA Weather Service has issued a warning of high fire danger conditions over most Northern Cape, while scattered afternoon showers are forecast for the eastern interior of SA.

High fire danger conditions

Besides Northern Cape, high fire danger conditions are also forecast for the western parts of North West, western parts of the Free State, the Karoo areas of the Western Cape and the northern and western interior of Eastern Cape.

Rainfall

On Tuesday, the SA Weather Service predicts a 30% chance of afternoon rain North West, Gauteng, western parts of Limpopo, central parts of Free State, western parts of Mpumalanga, extreme eastern parts of Northern Cape, the extreme western parts of KZN and the extreme northeastern parts of Eastern Cape.

Morning scattered showers are forecast for the central parts of Mpumalanga and the eastern parts of Limpopo.

No rain has been forecast for the Western Cape.

Temperatures

Minimum temperatures on Tuesday will be mild throughout SA, with warm temperatures on the East Coast, northern borders and the Upington area in Northern Cape.

Sutherland in Northern Cape will be the coldest place in SA again, dropping to 11°C.

Maximum temperatures will be warm in KZN and the northeastern provinces, as well as the western coastline and interior. The rest of SA will be hot to very hot, while Cape Town and Alexander Bay will be the only places remaining cool.

The hottest places in SA will be Upington in Northern Cape and Beaufort West and Oudtshoorn in Western Cape, all reaching a high of 37°C.

Pretoria in Gauteng is set to reach a high of 32°C, while Johannesburg will reach 29°C. Bloemfontein in the Free State will be 31°C.

Along the coastal regions, Cape Town in the Western Cape will reach a cool 24°C, Port Elizabeth in Eastern Cape will see a high of 34°C, while Durban in KZN will be 28°C.
