Heavy rain for eastern parts of SA

Heavy rainfall can be expected for the eastern parts of South Africa with cool temperatures on Tuesday.

Heavy falls of rain leading to localised flooding are expected in places over the extreme northern and eastern parts of Limpopo, northeastern parts of Mpumalanga as well as along the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) coast and its adjacent interior overnight.

Rain

Heavy rain is expected along the northeastern parts of Limpopo including, while thundershowers are excepted over the central parts of Limpopo, the central parts of Mpumalanga, as well as the central parts of KZN. Isolated showers are predicted for the western parts of Limpopo, the eastern parts of the North West, Gauteng, the northeastern parts of the Free State, and the extreme eastern parts of the Eastern Cape.

The rest of the country will remain dry.

Temperatures

Minimum temperatures are expected to cool across most parts of SA, with warmer conditions predicted along the East Coast, and the northern border. The coldest place in South Africa is expected to be Sutherland in the Northern Cape, dropping to a near freezing 1°C. Maximum temperatures are expected to be cool across most of SA, with moderate conditions along the West Coast and the southern coastline. The hottest places in South Africa will be Alexander Bay in the Northern Cape, and Vredendal in the Western Cape, both reaching a high of 28°C.

Pretoria is expected to experience a maximum of 18°C, while Johannesburg is expected to have a high of 19°C. A high of 19°C is predicted for Bloemfontein.

Along the coastal regions, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth are expected to reach 22°C, while Durban will reach 21°C.
