Monday's weather: Cloudy conditions expected in most parts of South Africa

The SA Weather Service has warned of severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours leading to localised flooding expected over the north-eastern interior of the Eastern Cape, the eastern parts of the Free State, south-eastern parts of the Northern Cape, over KwaZulu-Natal as well as over south-eastern Mpumalanga.

The weather in your region 

In Gauteng, expect partly cloudy and warm conditions with scattered showers and thundershowers but isolated in the north.

Expect partly cloudy and warm conditions in Mpumalanga, but hot to very hot over the Lowveld with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered over the Highveld. In Limpopo, expect fine and hot to very hot, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers in the extreme south. The Northern Cape will be partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the west and south. As for the Eastern Cape, expect partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread in the east. The Northern Cape will be cloudy at first and cool along the coast where morning fog is expected, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot but very hot in the central parts, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east. It will be scattered in the south east. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly.

The Western Cape will be fine in the west with morning fog along the coast, otherwise cloudy and warm to hot becoming partly cloudy in places over the interior with isolated afternoon thundershowers over the Central Karoo. It will be cool along the south coast and adjacent interior with isolated showers. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly, becoming strong along the west coast.

Cloudy and cool conditions are expected in the eastern half of the Eastern Cape with scattered showers and thundershowers south of the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with widespread showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north easterly.

In KwaZulu-Natal, expect morning fog over the interior, otherwise cloudy and warm but cool in the south-west. Scattered showers and thundershowers are expected but widespread in the south and west. The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly to south-easterly along the south coast, otherwise easterly to north-easterly.
