SA to start off cool but heat up later in the day


Cooler temperatures are expected for Tuesday morning but will rise by the afternoon across the country, with the Central Karoo predicted to experience extremely hot conditions.


Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in parts of the Northern Cape, in the West Coast District, the Central Karoo of the Western Cape and the northern interior of the Eastern Cape.

Extremely hot conditions are expected in the Central Karoo.


Showers and thundershowers can be expected over the southern Highveld region.


Minimum temperatures are expected to be cool to cold across the country with warm conditions predicted for the extreme north-eastern parts of the Northern Cape.

Ermelo in Mpumalanga is expected to be one of the coolest places, with an expected minimum temperature of 7°C.

Maximum temperatures are expected to be warm across the country with hot to very hot conditions over the central interior, including the Central and Little Karoo. 

Cooler weather is predicted for parts of the West Coast as well as parts of the northern border.

Upington in the Northern Cape is expected to be one of the hottest places, reaching a high of 39°C.

In Gauteng, Pretoria will reach a high of 30°C and Johannesburg 29°C.

Bloemfontein is expected to reach 32°C.

Along the coast, Cape Town is expected to reach a high of 24°C, while Port Elizabeth is expected to reach a high of 29°C. Durban is expected to reach a high of 27°C.
